Ignition Cylinder Problems and Replacement Options

Do not force a key that has stopped turning. Extra force can break the blade or damage the cylinder further.
A worn key, debris, a damaged wafer or a failing cylinder can produce similar symptoms. The ignition should be inspected before replacement is recommended. Depending on its condition, the solution may be a new key, removal of a broken fragment, cylinder repair, rekeying or replacement of the lock cylinder.
A no-start condition can also come from the battery, starter, charging system, engine controls or another electrical fault. If the key turns normally but the engine does not crank or run, a mechanic or roadside service may be the right first call. A security or immobilizer warning may instead point to key programming.
Provide the make, model, year, current symptoms and whether another key works. Proof of authorized access is required. Call 346-777-8777 to confirm whether the vehicle and ignition system can be serviced at your location.
