Spare Car Key Cutting and Programming

A spare car key is usually easier to produce while you still have an original that starts the vehicle. The existing key helps identify the blade, transponder or remote system and can reduce the steps required to add another key.
A metal key may need only the correct blank and blade cut. Many newer vehicles also use a transponder, remote-head key or smart fob that must be compatible with the immobilizer and programmed before it can start the engine. Cutting a blade and programming electronics are separate parts of the job.
See vehicle key programming for more about transponders and remotes.

Not every blank, remote or programming procedure works with every vehicle. Some security systems, restricted keys and newer models may require additional authorization, dealer support or equipment that is not available for mobile service. Compatibility is checked before a key is ordered or programmed.
An all-keys-lost job is different from duplication. Start with our lost car key process or call 346-777-8777 with the vehicle details and location. Current availability and an estimate are confirmed before work begins.
